Power Down

hello. im a n00b, so be gentle...

i been having this problem eversince i installed linux.

i got an ATX power supply so when i click shutdown and the computer power down, it should automatically shut my power right? after of course it shuts down all its processes... no need for me to hit the power button to turn the computer power off.

but whenever i shutdown from linux, it shuts down all its process and the screen now displays Power Down. but it just stops there. my computer is still running.

can anyone tell me what seems to be the problem and how do i fix it?

im using HEC power supply, via chipset, epox mother board and amd athlon xp 1800+.

hope you guys can help me.

Do a search on these boards regarding "apm" or "apci" or "power down" and you'll have a plethora of answers. Check also the bottom of this page to see a number of related threads

you have to insert module apm, do like this

vi /etc/rc.d/rc.modules

#### APM Support
unmark /sbin/modprobe apm

Ensure about your kernel is it support apm by module ?
