Post your Conexant Modem Drivers Please!

Have you been to linuxant.com lately? They are now charging for their conextant and other modem drivers. I wouldn't gripe about this if I had alternatives to choose from, and made the decision to pay for them. However, it seems they are starting a monopoly on these drivers.
Conexant modems come with most systems...if we're gonna keep getting new people to try linux, they're not going to want to pay for their drivers for a modem, when W*ndows ones are free...
I have the SuSE rpm and a Mandrake one. Please post more of your previously downloaded conexant drivers (when they were free) and I'll add them to a website for new users to download and try. It's quite upsetting that there is no alternative to these stupid winmodem drivers.
Thanks,
.stan

that free version only runs at 14.4. sweet.
it looks like that company isn't part of conexant at all. they're just trying to
fill a niche and make a little money.
the lucent and pctel modems cost the same, and there are drivers for linux,
so instead of wasting too much of your time, spend $10 and get one of those.

Exclamation They're limited to 14kbps

Yes, those are free, but they're limited to 14.4kbps. And if you're anything like me even 56kbps isn't nearly enough. Can you post these directly in the forum?

no binary posting.
but you can give somebody your email, and they can mail you a driver.
don't post your email though. stuff from this site gets all over the web
eventually, and you don't want your email to show up.

I just noticed there is no binary posting, but if you like, please email them to ragsta_muste @hotmail.com ...
I'm trying to compile a list that about any one can use.
Thanx

I gave up on these drivers a year ago and just purchased a serial modem. Well worth the investment.

Post Conexant Modem Driver Source!!!

Thanks to the great linux community, we have aquired the free source to the conexant modem driver.
Since brinkster is running win2k servers, and backed by microsoft it refuses the upload of any tar.gz files...
(that's my excuss anyhow)

You can access the source by:
goto
login:
pass:

click "open znail" and then download.
Enjoy!

tar -zxf (or -xjf) depending on tar.gz or tar.bz2
cd /the_thing_u_just_extracted
su -
passwd
make install
hsfconfig

provided you have your kernel source installed, this is all you need !

what were the "bunch of errors" saying ???

they will be telling you what you need to do,
for example, you may not have a compiler installed ?
you may not have your kernel source installed ?
your kernel source may be missing a version.h file (as mine was)
are you sure you have a connexant hsf winmodem ?

if you go to linuxand.com there are instructions on how to identify, the eayest methos, is to take the case off, take the sticker of the connexant chip on ur modem, write down the numbers etched onto the chip, and look them up on the table linuxant.com provides.
