Possible to display desktop on two monitors at different resolutions?

Hi,

I was wondering if someone could tell me if it is possible to display the desktop to two displays but at different resolutions. I have a 24" monitor connected via VGA (the DVI is connected to a windows box) and a 20" monitor connected via DVI.

I will mostly use the 24" screen, however I want to be able to use Linux from the 20" monitor if I have windows running on the 24", hence the need to display to two displays at once.

Thanks

?
more specific please,
it is possible to run on one computer 2 displays with 2 different resolutions, es well as in cloning mode and also in extended mode, but i dont really get your question because you sound like you want to run windows and linux natively at the same time wich is impossible
you can use virtualization (emulation) if its that what you mean

Ok, I have two monitors connected to the Linux box. I am running Linux at 1920x1200 on the 24" screen. I want to also output the same desktop to the 20" monitor at 1680 res. So if both monitors are on I will see the same desktop on both, but at each monitors native res.

However I wouldn't actually use both monitors for Linux at the same time. I would only use the 20" monitor if the 24" is not available as I'm using windows on it.

After further reading I don't think it's possible to clone the linux desktop at different resolutions. But perhaps I can create some kind of shortcut to easily change the resolution?

Edit

OK, I found out about krandrtray which does what I need. Appears I have to change from the system tray though and can't setup a keyboard shortcut
