Pos-x ion linear usb barcode scanner not working with debian

Hi, I have a pos-x barcode scanner from canadacomputers which does work with windows 8, but not with debian 6.

sudo tail -f /var/log/messages gives me the following output;

Jun 11 11:17:46 debian kernel: [ 3086.752181] usb 4-2: new full speed USB device using ohci_hcd and address 19
Jun 11 11:17:46 debian kernel: [ 3087.376118] usb 4-2: new full speed USB device using ohci_hcd and address 20

Jun 11 11:17:47 debian kernel: [ 3087.789638] usb 4-2: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
Jun 11 11:17:57 debian kernel: [ 3097.801326] generic-usb: probe of 0003:0483:5800.000B failed with error -62

I have searched but error -62 seems rather rare. I'd like to use this scanner if at all possible.

Thanks,

Marty

Too bad nobody seems to have the slightest idea. Guess I will return the thing, I tried all kind of solutions, no success.
I guess we will be installing Windows 7. Or find another more cooperative barcode scanner. Honestly I am a bit disappointed, people keep saying it is just a keyboard emulator, and it should work right out of the box. I don't think so, Windows 7 and 8 both download drivers after the first time you plug it in.

And it does not work in Wheezy either. I tried.
