Physical RAID 5
 

Hye All;
My company have just purchased NEW SERVER having 5 Disks and Physical RAID controller in it.
I want to install RED HAT LINUX on that server,now i want to know after installation due to any reason if i want to removeit from RAID devices what will be the method?secondly installation will be the same as i install it on my PC?

Hey,

The OS will see it as one drive.

If you delete the array, your data will be lost. The controllers write information to each disk so therefore you cannot downgrade.

I know some controllers allow expansion.
