Hi folks, 1st question,
I am running FC6 and KDE on an old Presario 700 laptop and I've been having very regular (once every couple of hours) complete lockups, having to cycle the power. I'm fairly new to linux, but as far as I can see nothing is written to any logs when this happens. The only thing I can see that is wrong with my setup is that there seems to be an extra mouse driver being loaded at X startup. Xorg.0.log (relevent bits) and org.conf below:

As you can see from the log, just after the line
(**) |-->Input Device "Synaptics"
(the laptop has a synaptics touchpad) there is a warning that no input default mouse has been found and then both the synaptics driver and the default mouse driver are loaded. I suspect this is the problem because a.) the lockups only seem to happen when I'm using the mouse, I can leave the laptop on all night downloading, or watch a movie no problem, and b.) I'm writing this with the synaptics driver commented out in xorg.conf so only the default driver is loaded and haven't had a lock up since.
Any ideas why the synaptics touchpad isn't recognised as the default mouse, and how to fix this? The default driver works ok, but the synaptics driver has handy functions like touchpad scrolling and tap to click that make life so much more pleasant.
Any help greatly appreciated.
