PCMCIA USB2-CARD and External harddisk

Hi all,

I want to use a MyCom usb2 pcmcia adapter to attach a harddisk and be able to use the disk tools (like fdisk) on it. Is this possible? If you could help me that would be great.
I do not want a Distro-based solution, but something that would work on any linux-distro, or homebrew linux version. This is because I am currently in the testing zone..... and because I don't know which linux distro will be used within our company. (Yes, we all have to make the switch to linux on the boss's machine..... )

Thanks for any help!
