Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

PCI Hardware Probe - Hangs

Hello everyone,

I am having the exact same problem on 3 of the same machines. They have the same configuration (for the most part)

- P4 3.2GHZ
- 1GB Ram
- DVD/CDRW Combo

The HD's vary but I originally started off with 2 SATA HD's of 100GBs each in 2 of the PCs and 200GBs in the other. I found out that even though the motherboard has an onboard raid 1 controller for sata drives, they dont seem to work with windows or linux unless you have special drivers (go figure) So anyway, I installed regular IDE drives in all 3 computers along with the SATA drives.

In all 3 configurations, the loading of linux hangs at the PCI: Probing PCI step.

This was tried with Suse 10.0, Trustix, Debian Sarge, Fedora Core 4, and RedHat 9.

Is there anything that I can do to get the software to install?

I almost forgot, in all cases, the MB doesnt have onboard video so I purchased the same graphics card for all 3 that is PCI based/not AGP. I believe these are Radeon cards, but I am not sure, I will find out and repost.
