PCI card with ethernet jack for laptop internet in Ubuntu

I have a pci card if those are the correct words that plug into the side of a laptop with a plugin for ethernet using dsl internet. It is like the other pci cards that plugin to a laptop for wireless, but it is for wired internet. That hardware works under the Ubuntu 5.04 Live CD. When I tried to use the hardware under Ubuntu installed on the HDD, the hardware did not work. I really hope this problem has a good reasonable solution to get Ubuntu 5.04 working on the laptop with the hardware. Thanks for help.

I think you mean a PCMCIA wireless card, yes? If so, what is the make + model of it? The HCL on these forums should list it along with configuration instructions. So long as it works on the Live CD, it should work with the system installed, but may take a bit more configuration.

The hardware is not wireless. It is similar to a wireless pci card because it is a card that plugs into the side of laptop. I think the make is Etherx, but I will post again on here when I know for sure what it is. I will find out when I am home from school either by today or tomorrow. I think it is PC MC too, but not wireless. I never heard of the manufacturer before, so I am not making it up. A search for Etherx on LQ does not bring up any results. Google shows that it is network hardware. I will keep trying once I get home. Thanks for information.

The card is an Etherx IC PC Card. On the card, it says Kingston Technology and Ethernet Adapter. The model number is KNE-PC2T. On the back of the card under the model number, it says this ASSY.# 9920229-001.A01. I do not know what that is. How can I get this hardware working with Ubuntu 5.04 installed? Maybe I will try Ubuntu 5.10. I checked the HCL on this forum. There is nothing for my hardware.
