PC wont power-on, power-light blinking??!
hey guys
I had unplugged my PC last night as sometimes there's storms at night this morning I plugged in PC and the power light is blinking and the PC wont come on at all tried different power cord, same result PC is a AMD athlon64 3300+ 2.4ghz SiS graphics probably the power-supply or what? if it is the power supply, how do I find new one as I've never had to replace anything on it or any other PC? also, I really need access to the hard drive but it's a weird hard drive and was wondering if I could put that hard drive in my K7 PC, which already has 2 drives in it can a pc have 3 drives? do I have to add/have another ribbon cable for 3rd drive?? thanks |
If you are not sure about your hardware, the best way is to take the faulty hardware out and take it to a local store, so that the people there can see the specs.
What do you mean with weird hard drive? I assume that it has different connectors than the drives in your K7 PC, that brings me to the conclusion that it may be a SATA drive. You can only connect it to your older machine, if there are SATA-connectors on the mainboard. I think the simplest way to get your data is to take the drive out, go to your local store and buy an external case for it, so that you can connect it through USB. |
Its the power supply!
dang it my brother popped in a used one he had and it works now But, the fan isnt running as fast? it has HP cool&quiet but the fans usually run faster...? the power supply it had was only 218w max so maybe that was the issue?? thx guys! |
The wattage of an PSU is not really significant, more significant is what currency the PSU can deliver on its different power rails (12V, 5V,...). 218W seems a little bit low to me, but I think, if you use a simple processor with onboard graphics and only one drive you should be fine with a 300W PSU from a good vendor. The PSU is the wrong part to save money, so buy a good one, if you have to.

yeah, its got one drive and integrated sis graphics so it should be OK?
note this is THE pc that all four nFluxOS distro's are built on:) so I guess solved! |
