Parallel port joystick in linux?

Check out this site.

http://ppjoy.bossstation.dnsalias.or.../PPJoyMain.htm

I used to use this for windows, and I was hoping for a Linux equivalent. I would not be against USB, but please note that I want this to be something I make, rather than buy. Also important is that it involve a game controller, such as gamecube or Ps2, or even N64....Xbox controllers, however, are less preferable, as I don't own an Xbox. (believe me, I know how much easier they are. But they are kind of expensive for a no cash budget....)

Thanks In advance,
William

The page you link to there shows you the pinouts for connecting the various game controllers to a Linux machine, just click on the "Linux" link under the appropriate controller.

Once physically connected, it is just a matter of using the standard game controller kernel module to read the input.

So, I just have to hook up the connections, and it will detect it just like that? that would be awesome! Does it work with ps2 controllers too, or just db9? Also, can I still use my Thrustmaster? it uses custom drivers...but it doesn't really have anything special. Just a pov hat, 4 buttons, and an axis...

oh wait, hang on that's for the atari joysticks...oh well. You wouldn't happen to know of a DB-15 to parallel adapter, would you?
