Yesterday, I have bought a pc with AMD 939, GA-K8N51GMF-9 motherboard, and installed Mandriva 2006.

Initially, i was not able to get any sound in the system (even with nforce drivers). But, later, after a tedious search, I found that u can install the OSS drivers from

http://www.opensound.com/osshw.html

Though have not tested the full functionality, now, I am atleast peacefull that the driver utility can detect the sound card and am atleast getting a two channel sound now. (didnt check the other channels yet)

it seems you should be using the Alsa driver, which was added early last year. Check the snd-hda-intel module. You really should be avoiding the old OSS stuff like the plague if possible now.
