Hi All

I am new to Linux. I am having a Dell PowerEdge SC1435 Server without any O/S. It has two hard disk One IDE and One SATA. I have downloaded Oracle Enterprise Linux 5 from Oracle Site. Put the 1st CD in the drive and install the Oracle Enterprise Linux. And after installation it is asking me to reboot the system. After reboot it is not loading the O/S, it is hanging.

01. Pls post in a specific linux distro thread. That way you will get answers. You should also post it on Oracle Discussions (discussions.oracle.com) since there is no support for Larry linux here.

02. Coming to your prob, do you know which disk you installed it on? Looks like your system does not support booting from the SATA. You will need to again boot from the CD ROm, go to rescue mode and start an emergency shell. Then grub-install /dev/hda should install it to the MBR of the first IDE disk.

03. Also post at what stage it is hanging? do you see a grub shell prompt - GRUB> ?
