Only have 1 USB port working with Ubuntu 9

This is interesting, I am running a HP Vecta 975mhz, 512Ram. It has 3 usb ports and only the middle port works and only it only sees my Stick, when I am using Ubuntu. If I use Windows XP (Dual Boot) all 3 ports work.Any Ideas??
