on-board ethernet card not detected

I'm having a problem setting up network on Ubuntu 6.06 (dapper drake). In fact, it doesn't detect my on-board Realtek rtl8101-L and I don't know enough about Linux to set it up myself.
The motherboard is MSI MS-6390 ver. 1.0.
During the installation process Ubuntu detected FireWire port (as far as I know, it doesn't have one) and asked me whether to use it as an Ethernet interface (or something similar).
Mandriva 2007 Free didn't detect any network interface (there were some other problems with it, too).

Could anyone help me set the network up?
