hey all, Ive had this old system lying around for a while and am curious about what you all may think is possible with this machine.
Like I stated in the title its an old pentuimMMX 166 with 64 megs of ram and a 10GB hard drive.
What I was thinking of doing was installing either debian potato or maybe a BSD flavor with the usual setup, no X, minimal kernel n modules (ie no plug n play etc) for what would probably only be a simple personal site maybe about 5 or 6 pages total.
For now I will probably go with noip for service since im not exactly expecting much in the way of traffic.

A machine like that won't be a powerhouse, but it should be an acceptable server. (Not using X is probably the key to success, since it puts a considerable load on the machine) Good luck with it -- J.W.
