I'm using DebBumblebee and it seems to be working well I just installed it using the script given. I got an ASUS N53SV with NVidia and Intel I915

To cascade9: i don't care about that optimus thing. I just want to rotate the compiz cube. I thought maybe blacklisting the intel driver and force the nvidia driver would be the way to go. Couldn't make it work, though. I have seen the bumblebee page, but have not been able to make bumblebee work.

To H_TeXMeX_H: what do you mean "Ubuntu is not Linux"? I thought it was, correct me if I am wrong. You say: "I have been able to get the nvidia card working". Are you talking about a optimus nvidia card? Then, even if you are using slackware, it should be possible under ubuntu.

Anyway, the screen on my Asus is quite good, so I will use it without the cube and effects until I find a solution

The netbook I have says it has optimus = ability to switch between Intel and Nvidia cards. It should work in Ubuntu, somehow.

What I mean by saying that is that you should not blame "Linux" if "Ubuntu" messes up.

Could you please describe in detail how you achieved this? How did you install and activate the script?

thankfully awaiting your reply

If you've tried the suggestion in post #4 and you still cant get compiz, its possible that when you tried to setup bumbleebee you've manged to do a partial job, screwing the video system.

Switchable grpahics is a bit different to optimus. Optimus doesnt actually 'switch' between video chips, it overlays the video output from the nVidia GPU (accelerated content) onto the output from the IGP.

Well it says optimus, so it is optimus, whatever it is.
