Nvidia making my head explode

I'm having two issues. One, I can't figure out how to make nvidia-x11-drv-96xx from dries work right. My other problem is I can't figure out how to remove the nvidia binary drivers. I think they might be related.

I think that if I could get the nvidia binary drivers removed, my issues with the rpm would be resolved. Does anyone know what all I need to remove and reconfigure to make that happen? I've tried "nvidia-installer --remove" but it didn't do anything besides unloading and deleting the kernel module.

I'd love to post all kinds of interesting stuff here, but I don't have any idea what to start with. Could have something to do with the fact that it's nearly 130a. . .

Thanks,

Tim

You using Fedora / NVidia? yum remove nvidia-bla-bla or rpm -E nvidia-bla-bla. Try the Livna repo for NVidia drivers. I did and they work well. Make sure you disable dries if you do try Livna.

livna conflicts with freshrpms too. rather than disable entire repo, though, you can just exclude the offending packages.

Code:
[climber@lode yum.repos.d]$ pwd
/etc/yum.repos.d
[climber@lode yum.repos.d]$ ls -Al livna.repo
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1835 Nov 27 10:03 livna.repo
[climber@lode yum.repos.d]$ grep exclude livna.repo
exclude=mplayer* mencoder*
[climber@lode yum.repos.d]$ yum info kmod-nvidia
Loading "installonlyn" plugin
Setting up repositories
Reading repository metadata in from local files
Excluding Packages from Livna for Fedora Core 6 - x86_64 - Base
