Nvidia help please!

Hi, i'm a n00b, i just got ubuntu installed and i cant get it to a 1024x768 resolution, in fact there's only a 640x480 resolution available.
i'm really a n00b so i can't get to know how to get into the hardware to get my card specifications. i know it's a nvidia gforce, and i noticed some other people cant get it working as well. PLEASE help me! I want to use linux for i know it's a very powerful tool, but i'll need time to get used to it.
thanks

If you have a working internet connection on ubuntu, and you are running the latest ubuntu release, 9.04, in the bar on top go to System>Administration>Hardware Drivers. An application will launch which automatically detects any proprietary drivers available for your system, including the nvidia drivers, and will install those which you select. The application will also give you a recommendation as to what should be installed.
