NVIDIA geforce 440mx SE TwinView Problems

so ive been scrounging around the board for the past two weeks finding the answers to all my various problems, and so far so good. However, once i set up my XF86Config-4 file I ran into a rut. I did everything in the NVIDIA readme to get the TwinView to work, which it does. However, now my screen on my monitor is cut to a virtual screen(1280x1024 resolution stuck in a 800x600 box that you have to scroll around in). here is what my xf8config file looks like. Like i said, tv-out clone works. just need to fix my monitor resolution now .

Try changing these bits
Code:
Subsection "Display"
Depth 8
Virtual 1280 1024
EndSubsection

Subsection "Display"
Depth 15
Virtual 1280 1024
EndSubsection

Subsection "Display"
Depth 16
Virtual 1280 1024
EndSubsection

Subsection "Display"
Depth 24
Virtual 1280 1024
EndSubsection
To something like
Code:
 Subsection "Display"
        Depth 8
        Modes "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"
        ViewPort 0 0
    EndSubsection
    Subsection "Display"
        Depth 16
        Modes "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"
        ViewPort 0 0
    EndSubsection
    Subsection "Display"
        Depth 24
        Modes "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"
        ViewPort 0 0
    EndSubsection
I don't know if that'll help, but it might be worth trying. Those settings work for me

i never got tv-out on my card working, and i never screwed with the twinview stuff... i just use a normal dual device style config for my dual head geforce, but you have the metamodes set at a max of 1024x768, how can a "clone" output work at 1280 if that mode itself is not defined for the output?

i might be missing the logic somewhere, but that's seems out of kilter. also have you tried forcing the viewport values rahter than just having "0 0"?

maybe im stupid... but what would i change them to? most of the stuff i just plugged in was straight from the nvidia readme.

you need to add a line in the monitor options of you /etc/X11XF86Config file

the lines you andd are for meta modes and you add double resolution in the lines like

"1600x1200,1600x1200" "1280x1024,1280x1024" .....and so on

let me get to work, in the morning, and i'll post my XF86Config file for you to see, i use twin 21in monitors, and i had to set it up a little different, using nvidia drivers and a geforce440mx 64mb ddr card.

if you have a chance to look for meta modes, search for help on that.

hopefully it might help you configure both monitors, i currently use 2 sony 21in trinitrons
someone helped me add the metamodes a while back. i think i need to add a line like "1600x1280,null) for the use of playing games. otherwise the games come up in the middle of the two screens, instead of on one.

let me know if this helps, i hate to say it though your XF86 file looks good to me
