Nvidia G4 with TV-Out (TV won't show full screen)

Hello!

Ok, so here's my problem:

I have the GeForce4 MMX SE with TV OUT (SVIDEO). It works just fine with my current setup, however the screen on the TV isn't displayed fully.

I've been able to get it to display fully by removing the:
CRT from:
Option "ConnectedMonitors" "CRT,TV"
But then the regular monitor doesn't display anything.

I've also tried different resolutions (MetaModes), but they too affect my regular monitor when I only need them to affect the TV.

I am not sure which setting it might be, but I've been trying them all with no luck. I was happy to find a semi-related thread that helped me to suss out the "2 screens as 1" effect that is only cool for 2 actual monitors (and was cool for about 10 seconds with the TV too).

Here is a link to my XF86Config file:
www.masterc.no-ip.org/share/XF86Config.TwinView

If anyone has any ideas or suggestions on options to try/change or move around, please, let me know.

Thanks!

Re: Nvidia G4 with TV-Out (TV won't show full screen)

According to the NVidia manual the line
Quote:
Option "MetaModes" "1024x768, 800x600, 640x480"
should be a set of 'mode pairs' like (for instance)
Code:
Option "MetaModes" "1024x768,800x600; 800x600,800x600; 640x480,800x600"

Could you be more specific about which part of the screen is showing or not showing?

Sure.. Thank you both for your replies. Dorian: I will give that a shot in just a few minutes, thanks for the clarification.

makai_wi:
It's the right "1/8th" of the screen. On my monitor I have the full screen, about the last 8th of that is what's missing on the TV. Also, it's about the bottom "1/8th" of the screen. I'd use the offset option, but the top/left portions of the screen are reaching their edges, so I believe the offset option would push them off the screen...

Thanks for the replies so far, I'll give that a go and report back.

Cool

Woohoo! I thank you VERY MUCH!

Worked like a charm once I figured out how big to resize my TV entry

Thanks!

Hey there,

I've got the same problem that I'm missing a piece of my desktop on my tvscreen.
In my config file I have the line:

Option "MetaModes" "1024x768,800x600; 800x600,800x600; 640x480,800x600"

but it still isn't schowing the full desktop on my tvscreen.
Am I doing something wrong?

Greetzzzz

Try including this option:
Option "TVOverscan" "0.4"

See if it helps. See the section in the Readme regarding that, but basically you have options from 0.0 to 1.0 Find the one that fits yoru screen best.

Cool
