(nvidia) First startx = blank screen, second startx = works ?!?
Hi, I have a problem where when I first run "startx", X startx but I end up with a blank screen. If I then Ctrl + Alt + Backspace, and run startx again, X loads fine and my screen's on and working.

Im using a "DPMS" monitor (LCD monitor), and I think I read somewhere that this was a known issue. But does anyone know how to fix it.

Thanks in advance, buck

It *shouldn't* be this, but (as root) try "modprobe nvidia" before you try to startx - it could be that the first time, it tries to use the driver before it's loaded, and the second time the module's in-place & ready..

Well I had already added "nvidia" to my modules.autoload.d/kernel-2.6. But I'll try it anyway.

If it *is* that have you got any ideas on how to fix it (maybe add modprobe nvidia into the startx script)

Thanks so far, Buck
