nvidia card weirdness
i just installed mandrake 10.0 official on my desktop and got into a few snags with my nividia card. first is my twinview dual desktop doesn't quite work the way its supposed to, and the second is any lack of graphical boot or high res console. mandrake installed an i686-4GB kernel onto my computer that i use, and the nvidia install had to recompile some bits of it. the install completed ok.
1) after editing my XF86Config-4 file with the same options that i had on mandrake 9.x which gave me a working 2560x1024 desktop across my two screens, i got one big 1024x768 screen under mdk 10. twinview shows me one screen across two monitors, instead of two screen connected. half of the screen is "off the monitor" and i need to scroll toget to everything. very annoying. 2) i cant get a graphical / higher resolution startup screen for my kernel messages. im using an nvidia geforce fx 5200 card. i can't get the "enable graphical boot" option in mandrake control center to work. how can i get the graphical boot and console (when i want to use my system without X)? thanks! |
heres my XF86Config-4 file

anyone know why my twinview shows one 1024x768 screen across two mointors instead of one 2048x768 wide desktop?
