nvidia card


hi,
i bought a nvidia agp gt 7950 with 512 mb ram. But i got:

Hmm...

I have this exact same card at home - not sure what it reports.

However, if I run

nvidia-settings

in a terminal it DOES report 512MB available.

Aren't those "regions" merely the kernel module interface regions? E. g. from where the card is controlled / communicates with the Nvidia driver?

E. g. the card CAN have 512MB physical RAM, but the sizes reported in your quote are merely the amount of memory set aside as framebuffer / interface in kernel space?

Yes you're right, my nvidia-settings report 512MB too.
