I have just installed SUSE 9.2 64bit, I have a PNY Nvidia 6600 GT AGP card but cant get it to work properly! When i go to SaX2 and try to change my graphics card setting from the default VESA Framebuffer graphics setting to the Nvidia 6600 gt, click test and i get a black screen that stays until i reset the pc, If i just click finalize then when i reboot my pc I get to a screen with a black cross for a mouse and the screen is half black, half blue! I done the on-line update and downloaded the new drivers but still get the same problem! Can someone please help! I am a complete noob, just installed linux today, lol!
Thanks
I dont have a 64, but i had the same problem. It works with the vesa, but the vesa isnt 3d enabled. When i installed the nvidia drivers and did sax2 with the 6600gt, it did the same exact thing. Then i started thinking, and I said to myself, well the 6600 (non gt) is similar. Its not the same, but its similar. So i chose the 6600 instead of the 6600 gt.
And wala. It worked. I know its not a permanent fix, but at least now i can play wolfenstein. It wouldnt let me before cuz the vesa made the 6600gt non 3d capable.
So now it works, not sure of the fps, but it runs flawlessly.
Hope this helps. I just started linux too like 3 days ago. Good luck, I know i'll need it.
i just got a xfx 6600gt agp and im getting like 11 fps in urban terror only. regular quake3 i get about 100-120 fps, et only gets 10-20 fps, quake2 bounces off the limit of 83 fps, for some reason doom3 doesnt load properly. any suggestions?
fc3 kernel 2.6.11
livna.org nvidia 7174 drivers
edit: what ever the problem was; it was fixed by using the drivers from nvidias website. i guess in this case its best to get it straight from the horses mouth, although that wasnt the case with the ati drivers.
