numpad does not work in gnome

recently the numpad on the right side of my keyboard has not been working. when num lock is engaged only number 1,3,7,9 and 0 work. when i go to the keyboard set up dialog and reselect the currently active keboard layout (the defualt for US 105 key keyboard) all the numbers work again. but after i restart its back to not working...

Any one have any idea why this would be?

there are no problems with the numpad in bash or kde, just gnome.

Dan

It might be something in xorg.conf file isntead of something in Gnome. Have you looked in there?

/etc/X11/xorg.conf

There should be a section there for your keyboard. Make sure its setup for US 105 Key as well. If unsure post your xorg.conf file.

tis is everything that is relavent to the keyboard from xorg.conf; the reason i beleive it has to be a gnome setting is cause if i log into kde the num pad works fine. I'm assuming kde also uses this file.

Are tehre any specific gnome config files for input devices?

Quote:
Section "ServerLayout"
Identifier "Default Layout"
Screen 0 "Screen0" 0 0
InputDevice "Mouse0" "CorePointer"
InputDevice "Keyboard0" "CoreKeyboard"
EndSection

Section "InputDevice"

Identifier "Keyboard0"
Driver "kbd"
Option "XkbModel" "pc105"
Option "XkbLayout" "us"
EndSection

Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Mouse0"
Driver "mouse"
Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
Option "Device" "/dev/input/mice"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
Option "Emulate3Buttons" "yes"
EndSection
