noticed something/cd-burner

I noticed in this line of the boot up
Code:
Attached scsi CD-ROM sr0 at scsi0, channel 0, id 0, lun 0
sr0: scsi3-mmc drive: 40x/40x writer cd/rw xa/form2 cdda tray
It changes depending on what kind of CD is in there. I noticed when it was booting and it said 12x/12x, i was like !!!!!, something must be wrong...but i guess not. So is that 40x/40x the reading of the CD inside??

thanks

If I remember how one guy explained SCSI queing right, it runs a que command at device scan, so if a disk is in there, especially a CDR that can't be read as fast as an empty drive can, then yeah, that's probably why the drive showed slower. I don't think it'll mean dink in the long run, especially if you've told xcdroast etc, that it can run much faster. I found that out the hard way when I told k3b that I had a 10x and only have a 6x.

Cheers,

Finegan
