not able to connect to net using wireless in fc7

Initially my wireless card was not being detected. After updating the kernel it got detected. But I am not able to connect to internet. Initially the device was shown as active but as I made changes to the settings it device became inactive with a message
Determining IP information for eth1... failed; no link present. Check cable?
I am using !WP2200BG device on fc7. What could be the problem. Does fc7 have wireless problems?

The distribution name is Fedora 7, not Fedora Core 7 (Core dropped off after 6). And no, it shouldn't have "wireless problems" as far as you have drivers for the hardware.

What settings did you change? It might help to know.

First of all you should make sure that the possible power switch of the card is turned on. If there is no switch, don't worry, but if there is, make sure it's not "off". Then try
Code:
/sbin/ifconfig eth1 up
prior to trying to activate the device - it could be that the device is "down", in which case it's not receiving any dhcp messages.

That's a start..if those don't help at all, post the device configuration here.

The device working might not be a problem coz the laptop (IBM thinkpad R52 )is on dual boot with windows XP. The wireless connection works well in win. The wireless device is Intel Wireless Pro 2200BG card. Initially it was not even detected and then I upgraded the kernel and then it was detected but whenever I tried to activate it after making some initial settings (like :change the mode from auto to managed with the name of the connection ) it gave the error as posted previously. Now, do I need to install drivers (iep2200BG and the ieee8011... drivers). If so please do give the procedure. Moreover if anything else needs to be done then please give the procedure for that too
