Not able for activate 'dma' or 'hdparm -d1..."

Hello there,

so i've followed a thread about the same issue on this channel before, i try my luck too: Cause i can't get the things together: my system is "RedHat 8.0" with 'kernel-2.4.18-26.8.0', so when it's possible to enable the 'dma = on' with adding the line: "options ide-cd dma=1" to '/etc/modules.conf' i could see also 'dvd' music-film without chopping in audio-track. But then after start once more the machine and switched to 'startx' i get a couple of error-messages, cause the orginal pane was lost and the '/home/me/.gconf/apps/panel/172,378conf.xml' goes wrong, dir or file not found. So if i delete that line in '/modules.conf' from before and restart the machine - everything is like before.

So i don't know, what that has to do with that ..

May be someone could give me a hint - would be great!

Best Regards

Thomas Kraus-Rump
