Nomad Zen Xtra

I was wondering if there was anyway to get the Nomad Zen Xtra working with Mandrake 9.2. It is detected, but put in the unknown section of the hardware list. I heard that Mandrake supports virtually all USB storage devices, and since it can feature as a external USB 2.0 HDD, I figured it would work. Any help?

I think you need a driver for the zen, it's probably not reconized as a drive because of copy protection. I had the same problem with my Dell Jukebox. Now that's it's configured properly, it's works the same under linux as it does on windows.

Check out this link to get your zen working under linux.

You should be able to transfer music files and use it as an external hardrive.

Good luck. Please post if you don't know how to do something. ;)

bolinux: i just got my 15 GB dell jukebox ($200 on sale, $50 off). i got gnomad2 to work, but only in root mode, and not under kde or gnome, it has to be in a window manager like window maker, otherwise it will crash upon opening. when trying to run it under a normal user, it has problems accesing some USB interface thing, ven though my USB mouse and joystick (both USB) work fine under anormal user (and my USB thumb drive)
