No voice,please help me

I install debian system, but no sound. I can see the volume icon on the panel.

I dont know which module be used by audio card..

Is it because the driver or module thing??

The card may be detected fine, and the appropriate driver may be loaded, but you may just need to set up the card in "alsaconf":

Your sound is probably muted. . . when you double-click the volume icon, are all the lights bright green? If not, they're muted - I believe that's often how the ALSA configuration starts out, seems like I usually have to unmute after a fresh install.

Thanks for your help. Now I get the sound. The problem is it need alsa-base and alsa-util.
But I still did not finish install the new version alsa driver. The alsa driver need kernel source which has disappeared on my computer.

My kernel source version is kernel-image-2.6.8-2-368 for sarge, but my Debian system is etch.

Although I try to download that version kernel, the alsa driver always has problems.

Maybe I should try upgrade my kernel to linux-image-2.6.18/24.
