i've fully installed ubuntu 7.10 on a Fujitsu Amilo PI2515 laptop and there's no special effects.
i have installed CCSM and tried all the optipons in the Appearance settings but they all come up with the message of DOOM! "Desktop efects could not be enabled"
is there somthing else i can try, because this laptop has a fairly good graphics card, it can run all the vista special effects smoothly as it comes with Home Premium as default.
but of course as vista is used more and more, the user comes to hate it, which is why i've gone for the best alternative.

Have just discoreved that it has an in built Inte GMA X3100 graphics card
if anyone knows a reliable drivers source it would be good
also is there a different version of beryl or compiz that will work
