No sound with SIS7012 onboard

Hello,

I'm a Linux newbie and I'm having problems configuring the sound on my system. My motherboard is an ASUS P4S8X-X with an integrated SIS7012 sound board. The system works flawlessy under WinXP, so it's not a hardware problem.

I spent a couple of days trying to solve this by myself, and here's what I've got:

- Linux recognizes the board with no IRQ problems;
- System says it's a SIS7012/Intel i810/AC'97
- and the most bizarre: if I plug my speakers in the microphone jack(!) the sound works perfectly!

I'm running Red Hat Linux 9 - kernel version 2.4.20. My guess it's I need updated drivers, but I don't know what to do. Can anyone help?

Thanks in advance,
Pedro

RE:No sound with SIS7012 onboard - Me2

Same prbolem, same specs

:study: The BIOS settings are set for APIC and the Plug 'n Play operating system option is Disabled.

The BASH shell command "cat /proc/pci" gives :

Bus 0, device 2, function 7:
Multimedia audio controller: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] SiS7012 PCI Audio Accelerator (rev 160).
IRQ 3.
Master Capable. Latency=32. Min Gnt=52.Max Lat=11.
I/O at 0xa400 [0xa4ff].
I/O at 0xa000 [0xa07f].

...and the command "dmesg" gives :
