Since no one seems to know what to do. Should I just switch back to fedora?? Because i dont think I'll be able to get my sound to work.

exodist 02-15-2004 01:25 AM

ok, do not switch, problem is slackware does not load soundcards automatically (not a problem in my opinion) try this first:

modrpobe emu10k1

that shoudl work or give error (type dmesg and read last few lines after module load)

if that does not work u need to eather compile u'r own kernel (easy if u know ur hardware top many people blow it way out of preportion, first time ever in linux kernel compile was first thing I did)

or you can install alsa (alsa.sourceforge.net) I use it and it works great

nyhm 02-15-2004 01:53 AM

I dont know how to compile my kernel. Any documentation on that? I hear there is alot but i would like to know a good one. Also, what is alsa?

exodist 02-15-2004 01:57 AM

well, there are many docs about it, google it, or go to www.tldp.org they have a large howto database and it is a good place to go for any kinda howto or walk through. also as a slacker you might go to www.slackware.com and click book and go to chapter on kernel compile, but it is slightly outdated and not even close for 2.6 kernels.

JrLz 03-27-2004 12:40 AM

hey , about modprobe emu10k1 ( not modrpobe emu10k1)

did it work???

if it did, edit your rc.modules file
find and uncomment the option

#modprobe emu10k1

->remove the #

it will load the module everytime you reboot

The_eXXe 03-20-2006 10:35 AM

In fedora go Applications menu --> sound & video --> Volume Control
then go edit menu, click prefrences, tick "analog front" and open up some.. it may work..

and if you have some kind of problem like this --> http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...d.php?t=375155
follow the topic :D

Fix for Audigy 2 ZS Platinum "no sound" found

Hi,
If it's any help I found that emu10k was loaded etc but play test sound produced nothing. Problem turned out to be resolved by running Kmix --> Switches and selecting the Audigy column.

cheers... Ian.

I justed wanted to say thank you for the help. I had a similar question to this in another thread. I checked out similar threads and found my answer here.
