After looking at your configure log, it would appear that either you don't haqve the kernel-devel package installed (kernel-smp-devel for smp kernel), or that the folks at RedHat screwed up when they built the distro. I'd opt for the first one, but wouldn't be surprised by the second.

Is there anything at /usr/src/? There should be either a kernels directory, or a linux-<kernel version> or something along those lines.

Appearently FC5 only installs the Kernel Source Headers, supposedly thats all they think you need. I downloaded and installed the Kernel Source and I can compile now but I still don't have sound output. FC5 detects my soundcard, the driver seems to be installed properly and I've messed with all the settings in alsamixer, unmuted everything and turned up the volume on all of the mixer channels, nothing.

Any suggestions? anyone?
