I'm using Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon, with fresh install and I lost all day today trying fixing the sound:

Everything seems normal, I checked and the sound is not muted, the sound card is detected, when I play mp3 files the player has no errors but still no sound at all!
I'd be grateful for any piece of advice you might have.
