No sound in backtrack 4


I am unable to find a debian package for my sound card which is INTEL 82801I(IHC9 Family)
i tried lspci...my sound card is listed there but i cant hear any sound..
can any one help me..

Your sound should work out of the box, have you had a look at alsamixer if your sound is simply muted?
EDIT: Backtrack 4 is old, may be you should try the recent version 5.

I've tried alsamixer earlier..it opened alsamixer with various soundtabs..but i cant figured it out , how to check whether my sound is muted or not...and in search of my answers i tried some sort of commands on alsamixer and now when i m typing alsamixer in my shell its saying "the program alsamixer is not currently installed"
