No sound for Fedora Core 2


I am pretty knew to Linux - trying to configure the sound card, but no success. The sndcard was pickup automatically by Fedora but will not play any sound/

When I run the soundcard configuration tool this is what I get:

The following audio devicewas detected.

Vendor: VIA Technologies
Model: VT8233/A/8235/8237 AC 97 Audio Controller
Module: snd-via82xx

Any help would appreciated and if more info is needed please let me know.

Hi tomloredo, welcome to lq. Have you tried any of your mixers to unmute sound?

I thought that I had checked that, but I will double check again to make sure. Thx for the reply.

So I checked all the mute settings in the sound mixers and all were set correctly. Are there any other tweaks that anyonce can think of to try and get the sounds working. I really want to be able to use Fedora as my main desktop and get away from M-soft

Here is info that I hope will help to indentify what could be wrong with my soundcard configuration. If more info is needed please let me know. Thanks for any help with this problem.
