Thumbs down No Sound Driver?

You probably get question this a lot, but...
I have an IBM Thinkpad 600E with a soundcard model Cirrus Logic CS4610. I've looked all over the Internet to try to find a driver for the soundcard with no avail. Does anyone know a site with the driver?

I've heard rumors on this site that the ALSA driver contains the driver needed for my soundcard. Is that true?

The more and more problems I have, the more I wonder if Linux is really best...

It's always worth trying the latest ALSA drivers out--get them from www.alsa-project.org and install them. You may also wish to e-mail IBM--they are avid Linux supporters and will be able to tell you where to find the appropriate drivers for their machinery. Also make sure that your volume is on max (i.e. run alsamixer from the console).
