No Signal from digital audio output

Hello,

a Newbie needs your help:

My system is running with SUSE 9.1. The Soundcard is a Typhoon Acoustic 6 with a CMI8738 - chip.
Linux recognized this card as a CMI8738/C3 DX - Card and installed it without any further problems. The card works fine as long as I use the analog audio outputs. However, there is no output on the digital ports, neither optical nor coaxial. The card is definitely not broken (it works under ...- well, I think you can imagine).

Would you be so kind to tell me what should I do to get these digital outputs working. Please remember to explain it to an Linux-Idiot.

Kind regards.
Thorsten

Go to

Scroll down near the bottom of the page. You should see some hints to enable digital ouput. Though I think you can use alsamixer to enable digital output. Use the left and right arrow key on the keyboard.

Yes, indeed, Electro!

I followed the hints of Martin Schmeisser and now it works perfectly.
Many thank-you's to you both.

Best regards
Thorsten
