no parallel device in lpinfo -v

Hello

My problem is about printing. I use Slackware 10 and try to add a parallel printer, connected to lp0, to the system.

I issue the command:

lpadmin -p rawqueue -v parallel:/dev/lp0 -E

and I get some "add device not possible" error.

The lpinfo -v command shows no parallel device. Only serial, usb, network etc.

In the /dev directory the /dev/lp0 has a "-" in front viewed with mc while other devices have a "+" sign.

Any hint?

Is cups running? I just set up printing last week and my initial problem was that cups was not running. Do you get anything when running:

ps faux | grep 'cups'

Thank's all

Solved the problem. The support for printing in rc. was commented out. After removing the hashes and restart the machine everything was ok.
