No microphone input with Ensoniq es1371
I'm running Mandrake 8.2 on a VA Linux Startx SP2. It came with an Ensoniq es1371 sound card. I bring up gmix, turn up the slider for the mike, check record, tap the mike. Nothing out of the speakers. I try to grab a sample with yarec and play it back. Nothing on playback. No sound.
I know the microphone is good because I've tested it with another piece of equipment.
I know the audio output is good because xmms will play music files.
I know the line input was working at one point because I've used it, but I haven't used the line input lately.
lsmod gives:

I know how you feel
While I haven't figgured out the problem yet, I think I am on the right track! I'm tinkering around in alsamixer, try setting the mic to capture and making sure it's not muted. If I find a definate answer I'll get back to you or if you find it let me know ok.

I'm there too
I'm trying but all the posts lead to no answer, I'm working on it, and get back here too.
I saw you post somewhere in these mic stories, windowsfree, I guess you didn't find the answer either...
