All I can give you is a hint - it'll take some effort installing to a SATA drive.
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...redhat+rh+sata http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...redhat+rh+sata Do some searching, you should be able to find a solution to this problem. It will be something like: a) install a newer distro b) get a kernel w/ sata support, put this on a bootdisk. boot from it, and onto your cd installation. That's all I know, I don't have a sata drive. |
from what I have read about SATA drives they work fine with 2.6 kernel + are recognised as a scsi drive using the command lspci
try using the command uname -r to see which kernel version u r using |
I know that RH 9.0 use kernel 2.4 and I probably need 2.6 version but if i still dont have installed RH how can I update the kernel? maybe my question is something silly remember plz im beginer.

how about trying fedora core 2 u can have a look at this link
http://www.eweek.com/article2/0,1759,1542890,00.asp u can also download from here if u wanted to try it out. Otherwise someone on the forum may be able to offer u a different distro that will be compatible with your hdd. there is also a bit of a thread about the same sort of problem http://www.redhat.com/archives/redha.../msg00281.html I`m sure someone will post with some more advice :-) |
