No form feed after printing short form

Hi there. We are using several printers on our Linux RH network to print customer invoices and receipts. Receipts are short forms of just 21 or 22 lines. Two of the printers (an HP LJ1300 and a Dell 5200) eject the receipt paper automatically; the other two HP (a LJ 4200 and a LJ2420) do not eject. You have to press the green button on the printer. Is there a solution to that? They are all set up with the same PCL settings. Would appreciate input or suggestions. Thanks.

You are usually able to set for a form feed after printing somewhere. printers.conf?

Thanks, business_kid. That helps. But I am not a programmer. So I'll have to take it up with those guys.

Neither am I. It's configuration, not programming. Try whatever you used to set printing up.

Hi All,

I am having the same issue as gallicbear and i am new to Linux Redhat.
Can anyone share with me how to set the form feed for the printer in Linux?

Because i am also facing the issue that the printer do not auto eject.

Thank You.

AFAIK the HP LJ series of printers do not even feed the paper until the printer is told the page is done with a form feed signal. They then perform the print.

Something is wrong with the config that prints the form and sends it to the printer in that it seems to be missing the FF at the end which would print the form.

I would guess that there is actually either something different in the config on the print server, or that there is something set differently on the printer itself. It may take close scrutiny of the config to identify the cause.
