no dri acceleration on ati rage mobility p/m agp
 Hi,i am brx and i am new to linuxquestions.org, so here is my first and really hard question:
i have a acer travelmate 203tx and it seems to have an "ATI RAGE MOBILITY P/M AGP 2X"(according to /proc/pci)inside; i read the ATI.README of the X.ORG, and i understand(hope rightly)that the new release X11R6.9/X11R7.0 has the DRI acceleration support for the mach64 chipset family which my card belongs(according to bios info); there's someone who can help me activating DRI? I also installed libdrm-2.0 and tried the X11R6.9 compiled from Pat(slackware daddy)since i'm not able to compile it by myself due to string.h related errors or something about. thanks a lot. brx |
It's true the new Xorg 6.9/7.0 includes dri support for more ati chis than before. After upgrading to 6.9 on mine, my radeon mobility is supported. I upgraded using official slackware packages which it sounds like you did as well. To enable the functionality you have to edit your /etc/X11R6/Xorg.conf. In the graphics device section change the "Driver" "xxx" to read "Driver" "ati" and try that.
