No Display with Linkskey kvm
I'm running RHEL4 connected to a Linkskey kvm (dual dvi/ usb) and cannot get a display. I'm ssh'd into the machine, so I know it boots. I also know that kvm's act squirrely with Linux (i.e. if a Windows machine is the other machine on the switch then you have to boot Linux first to see the display). On this one the display won't come up at all. I've tried switching the cables around (dual dvi) and the Windows machine works fine through the switch (good switch, good monitors). Right now, I don't have the Windows machine connected at all. Any help here???/

in the /etc/X11/xorg.conf look to see how many screens are listed.
ie Screen 0 mode 800x600 screen 1 mode 800x600 also check that the color depth, resolution and refresh rate are supported. ie 800x600 depth 16 60htz |

Thanks "watcher69b" for your reply. I responded to this same post in Newbie forum. It's not the .conf file. I actually got both boxes (Windows and Linux) up at the same time by trying various boot/reboot connect/disconnect methods, but then the user rebooted the Linux machine and now it won't display again. Somehow it's probing for the monitor through the KVM and isn't liking what it sees. The BIOS screen won't even come up through the KVM. I have similar setups with DVI/USB KVM's throughout the building and all of them are a real pain. I have even tried a new KVM, booting Linux first, booting both Windows and Linux at the same time. This one really makes me pull my hair out. With more users going to two or three computers with a dual display setup, I really need to figure this out for future deployments. I guess I'll try to get in touch with the Linkskey guys and see if there is some simple solution or configuration for the KVM in Linux.

My guess would be the Video card is unable to detect the Display settings through the KVM, because the KVM is blocking the DDC Probe. Hardcode the Resolution and refresh rate in the xorg.conf using a Modeline.
