No display in tty with NVidia GeForce

I have set up a laptop with an NVidia GeForce Go 6600 graphics onboard, and it's a Kubuntu 6.10 system.

My problem is the following: Before I had set up the "nvidia" driver for X instead the "nv", everything looked and worked fine (except that 3D did not work, which is normal for the nv driver).

After setting up "nvidia" with envy, the X (KDE) works perfectly now, but the tty remains completely black (when I switch with Ctrl+Alt+Fx). The funny thing is, that it works, I mean, it reacts on all my input I do "blindly" then, and I can switch back to X with Ctrl+Alt+F7 without any troubles and as often as I want to.

Has anyone an idea what's wrong and how I can solve it?

Cheers, Robert.

What driver version you use? I had the same problem and updating to the latest drivers solved the problem.
