No display

I just reinstalled Slackware 12 after a while. Everything went fine and was good. Then the next day I used the computer. I installed some software on slackware, got XFCE working and all, and used Windoze a little bit.

The next day I turned on my computer and nothing happened. Actually, everything revs up. The CD Rom drive starts spinning if there's a CD. The harddrive starts going. The fans turn on. The lights come on.

The monitor turns on for like 5 seconds, so it's recieving some sort of signal from the video card. But, after that, it goes into standby. So it gets a signal but then loses it.

I tried moving the ram around into different slots, trying just one stick at a time or both in a different configuration. My motherboard is a Winfast NF4UK8AA.

This definitely seems like a hardware problem. I doubt it has to do with linux. I never had the internal speaker connected until this happened, but I tried connecting it and it doesn't beep. I'm not sure if it's connected right or if the speaker works at all, though, since I've never used it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

at the root prompt type xorgsetup then after that make sure you do a add user or type startx then go to system and add a user so you do not run in root mode. this will set up you display and scroll mouse etc.

if you have more than one beeb before it start to boot that is a ram error beeb. the system looks for the video then looks for ram then start to prompt the cpu.

I don't know if I made my post clear enough, but NOTHING displays.

I don't even get to a root login. I don't get to any of the initialization of linux. I don't get to LILO even. I don't even get a display of the BIOS intro thing. It displays nothing.

Also, there are no beeps. I've tried switching around all the ram and stuff, but the PC speaker does not beep at all. I have it connected to the motherboard. It could be that the speaker does not work, but it should work.

@Drakeo

As far as I understand it, nonis does not even have one beep. So his system does not boot at all.

@nonis

I suppose you have a seperate videocard (I did not see VGA in the spec fo your mobo). Take it out and put it back in; it might have moved slightly and have some bad connections now (causing some kind of short); I had a very similar issue (except my system still gave a beep).

If that does not solve the issue, a BIOS reset (see motherboard manual) might help. If it does not, start with a minimal config (mobo, proc, ram and video) and see if that boots (you should see at least some videocard info and some BIOS info). Next start adding other components till it fails to boot and draw your conclusions.

Yeah. THere's no onboard video. Unfortunately I don't have another PCIE or PCI video card to switch out. But, what's strange to me is that the monitor turns on for a bit, then goes to standby. So it knows when I turn the PC on. That means that the video card is doing something.

I tried taking out the video card and putting it back, and I tried removing the sound card and putting it back. That's all that I have besides the basic components. I'm starting to think it must be the ram and maybe my speaker does not work. I don't know, though.

couple things cause this a floppy drive cable plugged in backwards. your ram chips not seated. incorect ram. you you installed a new videio card with out installing the drivers for it be for you changed to a pci or agp video card. push the power button on the monitor how th reset bios. simple kwick take the small rounds cmos battery out count to ten and put it back in. make sure your Ide cables are tight most likely rest BIOS

I actually tried all of that. Every cable is plugged in, I've reseated the ram and cards. I replaced the cmos battery. I also reset the bios using the jumper.

I might go out and buy some ram. 2 gigs are only 30 bucks lately. If that doesn't work I don't know what else.
