Valkarin, I just wanted to give this link to you, so you could look at another way (??)
of installing what I "think" is the real nVidia driver. As I mentioned, I am not familiar with installing it into Ubuntu (I only ever use the LiveCD Ubuntu) and I did ask in that thread WHICH driver was being installed by the commands given there. But if it IS the real driver, it may give you another option/procedure for installing it.
If however it just installs the old 'nv' driver, then it's redundant.. Though, why would one want to install the 'nv' driver, when it is infact already on the system from the start anyways Hmm.. Sometimes I wonder..

I finally got it working using envy. Thanks to everybody who helped and to GrapefruiTgirl for suggesting envy.
