i dont think i have the same model, but under debian i got it working easily using the package known as qc-usb-source, then you go to /usr/src/modules/qc-usb-source make it, run the ./quickcam.sh which you seem to have run, then for me udev automatically picks it up when i boot up and then using something like camstream i can use it already. Have had 0 problems, but of course i don't use it at all, altough i enjoy configuring things and getting them working. If i remember correctly my model is a quickcam express or something like that.
www.google.com/linux turns out alot of responses for "quickcam pro 5000". Although i was reading a few packages and they say things like quickcam pro 5000 is not supported because it's newer. So i'm not too sure it's supported, HCL has no find for it, maybe you should make one. Sorry i can't help you. I'm guessing it's very new.
